Tuesday, July 29th-More Hiking in Denali NP

Our last full day in Denali was full of hikes and I mean from 18,000 to 22,000 steps! We all enjoyed the Horseshoe Lake Trail but found our energy waning when we got to the Mt Healy Overlook Trail. Everyone was doing fine until we got about 3/4 of the way up the 1700 foot vertical rise. The ol’ man ran out of gas so we hit the (flatter) McKinley Station Trail. Here’s a pic 3/4 of the way up the top:

We went on another hike that has a pedestrian bridge over Riley Creek and that where Claire and Ryan found gold! Well, not really gold but rocks along the creek bed that they enjoyed playing with. Here’s a pic of them playing with part of the Alaska Railroad trestle in the background:
