Thurs, June 6, 2019-Additional Things about the Glacier Area

First is the weather: For the last 6-8 days, we’ve seen high temps between the upper 60’s and the mid 70’s. The lows at night have been between the low 40’s to the low 50’s. Much more comfortable than Houston!

Second is about Glacier NP: Since Glacier NP borders our friends to the North, Glacier NP in the US is part of the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park on both sides of the border. Canada’s Waterton Lakes National Park abuts Glacier North of the border. Isn’t it nice when we work and play together with our neighbors!

Third is the Going-To-The-Sun-Road in Glacier. The GTTS Road connects West Glacier and East Glacier across the park. This road doesn’t open completely until about the middle of July because of the SNOW amounts at the higher elevations. We went up the West road to Avalanche yesterday and our plans are to go up the East side of the GTTS Road as far as we can go tomorrow or Saturday.

Today is our Ryan’s birthday so we’re taking it easy today. We had biscuits and gravy, eggs, and sausage for breakfast and we’ll be looking for a restaurant that serves chicken-fried steak later today. These are 2 of his favorite meals.
